A Holiday Here; The Twelve Apostles Await.
It’s no secret that recent world events have significantly changed the tourism landscape. But with those changes, we have also been afforded ample time to update those travel wishlists and become reacquainted with the beauty of our own backyard. From stunning beaches to ancient rainforests and everywhere in between, we are certainly spoiled for choice. And the best news? Our backyard isn’t going anywhere! So as we look to the future and what that means for travel, we feel fortunate to have so many amazing experiences just waiting to be discovered, right here. That’s the beauty in nature - it’s constant. With each season comes regeneration and growth. The ocean's tides come and go, each and every day. So many natural wonders, just waiting to be explored and appreciated.
If you are in the process of planning your next escape, picture this: you’re standing at a cliff-top lookout taking in panoramic views over the Southern Ocean one minute, before trekking through lush native forests as you brush past Eucalypts the next. All the while you’re breathing in the fresh sea air and marvelling at the array of coastal flora and fauna. Pair these sensory delights with expert insights from an experienced guide and you have the perfect recipe for a holiday at home.
But the experience doesn’t end there.
Our Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk is based on The Great Ocean Road - 243 kilometres of Australian National Heritage listed road, winding from Torquay to Allansford. The lodge itself is nestled amongst the coastal forest, a picturesque 3-hour transfer from Melbourne. This guided itinerary will allow you to experience the incredible beauty and natural wonder of the Twelve Apostles on foot and from the sky, with a scenic helicopter flight included on the last day. All of this, topped off with gourmet meals and an oh-so-comfortable bed at the lodge each night. After all, a little luxury never goes astray.
With the convenience of transfers to and from central Melbourne, all you have to do is pack your suitcase and a handful of walking essentials (see our list of recommendations and what we provide, here). Being a lodge-based walk, you’ll depart each day with a light daypack and leave the rest to us. By ‘the rest’ we mean - walking snacks, fresh fruit and water, lunch, quality gear (if you need it) including gaiters, walking poles and jackets. Each day commences with a gourmet breakfast, then a foot dressing/blister service if required, followed by a transfer to the trailhead before you commence the day’s walk - see the full itinerary here. We end each day with a mineral salt foot spa, an indulgent massage if you feel so inclined and of course a delicious dinner where we reflect on the day’s wanderings.
In essence - leave all the planning to us, while you switch off from the day to day, put one foot in front of the other and immerse yourself in your surroundings...With a side of comfort for good measure.
