Cradle Mountain / Overland Track    March 2022

Walk review from Nerralie Shaw, Cradle Mountain / Overland Track

What an experience we had, 6 days of walking the spectacular scenery of Cradle Mountain National Park.

Matilda one of our guides told us that if you could make it through day 1 you could make it through the other 5 days.

We learnt some “Tassie Trail Terms” along the way

“Be Bold Start Cold”- don’t wear to many layers or you will spend the morning stopping to strip off layers

“Tomorrow there are some gently undulations”- you will ascend and descend many times throughout the day.

“It is a short walk through enchanted forest on day 2 till you get to the hut”- the forest is “haunted” not “enchanted” and it feels like it goes on forever.

“On the last day you will feel like the track just goes on and on”- “On the last day you feel like the track just goes on and on”

But, we really did have the most amazing trip, made so much better by an awesome crew of fellow like minded walkers. It was so nice to sit around the table and share our stories and laugh and laugh and laugh! Thanks to our guides Matilda, Tim, Fin and and Tristan, we wouldn’t have made the walk to the end without them. And yes, we did have 4 guides all up, but only ever 2 at a time!
