We did the Overland Track, the first trip of the season.
I chose September because I was hoping for snow. I wanted it to be an EPIC experience with the comfort of the huts. That’s exactly what we got. First two day were extreme weather on the Cradle Cirque. Snow, blizzards, crazy wind and rain. I found it thrilling. If we were solo I would’ve found it scary but our two fabulous guides, Aaron and Ollie were forever reassuring and we felt safe. They were so professional. I loved our Pelion Gap day. Pure magic. The mountains all snow capped with patches of blue sky. Hut life was something to look forward too at the end of each day. The nibbles, the wine, the warmth, the gourmet meals. We were definitely never hungry. It was unfortunate that we had the revised itinerary due to the burnt hut. The first 3 days were indeed physically taxing going up the plateau, down the plateau and then a very steep up again on day 3. But it was definitely an epic adventure and I’m happy we made it to the end.
