Walk review from Julia and Mark Kerridge, Wineglass Bay / East Coast

A truly fabulous and memorable experience.

The concept of walking and sailing along the south eastern coast of Tasmania with a small group of likeminded individuals is simply the best way to explore this part of the world. Walking along, and then sailing past, the cliffs, bays and beaches gives you two very different perspectives. The up close and personal experience of walking through the landscape, followed by the laid back spectacle of viewing it from the deck of your own yacht. Yes some of the walks and sea crossings were challenging, but that just made the whole experience more satisfying.

The crew were superb. As skipper, Jamie’s many years of experience provided reassuring confidence as we navigated the seas from Cape Hauy to Wineglass Bay. He always seemed able to find the best places to anchor. Our guide Vito, was a walking encyclopaedia, who provided expert knowledge of the flora, fauna, geology, archeology and history that we journeyed through as we explored the landscape on foot. And our chef Mary was a culinary marvel in the galley. Food tailored to various dietary requirements was always of the highest quality. She made the whole experience of living on board an intrinsically special part of the tour.

We will have very special memories of the friends we made, the things we saw and the experiences we enjoyed. A big thank you to everybody involved at the Tasmanian Walking Company.
