Walk review from Kim Goward, Twelve Apostles / Great Ocean Road

Five stars - Great Ocean Road Long Weekend.

I very recently did the Great Ocean Long Weekend walk with Lise and Sarah and 8 “strangers”.

This is a long review- I always have a lot to say!!

Loved it- we have already made a whats app group to discuss future walks with the ladies-

I am not a seasoned walker and found some of it challenging cue “death stairs”- but this was just what myself and my new friends needed- women, similar ages, something in common (Lise and Sarah) strangers, just walking and talking and laughing and finding a moment for ourselves away from our normal lives.

Piper and Prue our guides were so great- so much knowledge, stories, laughs, related to all of us, we felt confident letting them lead us, they looked after clearing off the table after dinners at the lodge, they made all our decisions for us-

Meredith was magic- she welcomed us into her “home” told us everything was ours, we could look in drawers and cupboards, kitchen, anywhere- take as many pics we wanted of the lodge and it’s beautiful views, soft furnishings, gardens - she was the most welcoming person I have met in my 52 years- took us individually to our rooms, showed how everything worked, was genuinely so excited that we were excited, talked with us, knew when to leave us- the passion she has for the food and drinks that were provided was amazing- you have a real gem in her as a host of the most amazing lodge.

Coco was so great as well, just the greatest cake in the world- a lovely, gentle person.

The surprise champagne at the lookout on day 2, the food, the champagne, the drying room, the views, just everything was so good- we voted that it would be great to have had one more day where we could just hang out at the lodge, or do a walk, or a cooking demo, or anything was needed.

I’m now looking at the freycinet walk- I am a Tasmanian living in Tassie- and would never think to do this - as my husband said “we can just do it for free” but I want comfort, I want someone to make the decisions, to cook, a comfortable bed, a group of women and that lodge. I want that lodge...
