Following are a few frequently asked questions about the Kangaroo Island Lodge Walk Lodge Walk that you may find useful.
- How often do trips depart?
Our trips depart from 1 August through to 30 November and February 1 through to May 31.
- Walk accommodation
Whilst walking with us you will experience historic accommodation in a spectacular location. Each night you will stay in our Cape de Couedic Cottages.
- How many guests will be on my trip?
Each trip requires a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 14 guests.
- How fit do I need to be?
As long as you regularly exercise, or are capable of walking between 7 - 14 km each day you should enjoy the experience. The best preparation for a walk is walking! Do some hill training, increase your distances over time and walk with a pack. If you have any concerns about fitness please call and speak to one of our staff members.
- How much weight do we carry?
You 32 litre day pack should weigh no more than 5kgs. You will carry your lunch, water, waterproof jacket and any personal items each day.
- What style of shoes should we have?
You will need lightweight lace-up boots or walking shoes. Boots/shoes must be worn in to minimise the risk of blisters. Sandshoes, elastic-sided boots, street shoes and similar are not acceptable.
- Do we need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance. Consideration needs to be given to our cancellation policy, injury, evacuation, delayed flights, illness, etc. We do not refund for such occurrences, therefore travel insurance is your only safeguard.
- How many guides are there?
Every trip has two experienced guides. This allows plenty of opportunities to rest, take photos and walk at your own pace.
- How about food?
All meals are provided, including scrumptious dinners with fresh produce prepared by your gourmet cooks/guides. We are happy to cater for special dietary requirements, we just need to know in advance.
- What time does the trip commence and conclude?
At the start of your walk: we ask that you be at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel (55 Froome St, Adelaide, 5000) at 6.15 am. This allows time for introductions before departing for Kangaroo Island.
At the conclusion of your experience: the group will arrive back into Adelaide at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel at approximately 5 pm with an Adelaide airport drop off between 4 pm - 4:15 pm (please book domestic flights no earlier than 6 pm or international flights no earlier than 7 pm).
- What accommodation options do we have pre-and post-walk?
For your convenience, you may like to stay at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel (55 Froome St, Adelaide, 5000) the evening prior to your walk as this is where our shuttle departs from. You are more than welcome to choose alternate accommodation just please ensure you are ready to leave from the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel at 6:15 am sharp.
- Are there age restrictions?
The minimum age for guests walking with us is 12 years old. There are no upper age restrictions, however, for guests walking with us who are 69 or above we do require a GP to sign off on a letter we provide.
